Sorry to be blunt, but with these types of photographs there is a very fine line between photography and wallpaper.
I agree with Dee that this one needs something to put that skyscape into context. The chimney is along the right track but it’s just too insignificant here.
I have seen a few portfolios featuring images of nothing but skies. However, it is very hard to pull off and the skies really need to be exceptional for that approach to work.

Funny you should say that…I set it as my desktop wallpaper last week. I should have seen that as a warning sign… As wallpaper it looks good, as a photo…not so much.

I agree with you both about the chimney; I wasn’t sure if it needed to be there more or not at all, so I decided to leave it there and see what people said. This was never intended to be a “for publication” exposure; I was messing around with a neutral density filter I’d just bought and was impressed by how it dramatised the sky.
