Moon

One of my favourite scenes is the night-sky, the stars and the moon. However, as I am sure many of you will agree, these alone make a rather boring picture, so I like to include other interesting things in the picture – thatch cottages, etc. I have only begun to get to grips with camera and seem to have become fairly okay with taking pictures of the starry night. However, my problem arises when I want to include the full moon. I can’t seem to get the settings right so as to have a good clear full moon but with also a good clear-ish image in the foreground. The moon usually becomes over-exposed and the trees/houses/etc. In the foreground underexposed. At ideas? Thanks. :oops:

You should get two exposures and blended in photoshop.
One exposure on the moon, the second exposure on tree / house/ etc.

dont be afraid of PS, Basic exposure blending / layering is easy to pick up and a necessary tool IMO. I recall someone posting a link recently where CS2 is available for free download (Legally) . Then pick up a PShop mag in Easons and you’re away. Of course you can also buy filters to help on camera to and you may even find you will use both filters and PShop to achieve best results
