The full moon rises behind Bray Head on a few occasions in the year, and it is a beautiful sight to see. It is difficult to get a clean photograph though, because of the amount of people that are usually around, plus the difficulties caused by light spill from the arcades, other businesses and streetlamps along the promenade.
This image works really well for me. The composition is excellent, using both the cloudscape and the street lighting on the waves to draw the eye to a minimalist placing of the moonrise and headland. On my screen, the file looks as though it might benefit from a graduated lightening the left hand side a very small bit to bring out the clouds just a bit more.
Pretty good shot if you ask me, I like the way you’ve used the crashing of the waves lit by the lights on the promenade to lead in the eye. If there is one critique would be that it seems a little under exposed on the dark side, I’d like to see more light but I understand how hard it is to balance the exposure with so many different light sources. A pretty good photograph in any aspect.
I like this a lot. Sometimes black in an image works very well as a contrast to the light, and this is one of these times. I love the line in too. All in all a great shot.
Agree with the comments above. Sometimes the black emptiness works well to lead into a shot and the diagnonal lines really pulls you into the focal point. Thats a fine shot!
