Moon too fake looking?

I took this in Dunlaoghaire last year and photoshopped the moon in later. The moon was large in the sky and it was in that position but obviously not that big. Just wondering if it’s too fake looking.

I vote ‘yes’ I’m afraid… too big and just too bright/clear… perhaps you should have posted it without telling us… see how many of us would’ve pulled you up on it. But I honestly think it looks ‘too much’ in this shot.

    Take it easy,

I think you’re right. When I did it first, I liked it but the more I look at it the more I dislike it. I was inspired by this shot when reading this article on photographing the moon.

I assume that this is made up of 2 photographs, ie one of the harbour and another of the moon ?
I wouldn’t have expected the moon to be in focus

It sure is. The moon is taken at 1/200f5.6 and the main shot was 4sf8.

Nice shot of the harbour and of the moon, fig (welcome aboard – pun intended – relatively new here too).
Yeah, the does kinda look as though it was dropped in, aside from being a bit too big it’s also too white compared to most everything else in the image – it just stands out there too much. I’d prolly put a yellowy orangey cast on it just to tie it in to the rest of the image better.

I think even positioning the moon on one of the diagonals would help with the composition. I’m presuming its the scene we’re more interested in opposed to the moon?
