More American Football.

GrahamBParticipant
I’d like a drum roll for this one please. I’m pretty sure this is my first sports posting.
Anyway here we go but gentle, like i said it’s my first time.
Oh I left them small because there was a few of them. Didn’t want to slow down the dialup boys.
joe_elwayParticipant3rd one looks the best of the lot Graham. Sense of the action from the splash and taught calf muscle and you can see he was out running the “defence” on his right sideline with the sense of space to his left.
The last one … well as gridiron fan I can tell to a certain degree what’s probably going on in the shot. The cornerback is checking down the line while paying attention to the WR. It could be a run (the offensive line stayed on the line of scrimmage) but the left foot of the left tackle shows pass blocking, making this probably a play action and the CB is probably going to be the man to attack cos he appears to be playing a zone defence, i.e. his eyes are on the backfield and not the WR standing opposte him. Of course, that left foot could be a ploy and it could be a draw play instead – so the CB has to be ready to seal the outside against a run and chase back infield if the linebackers miss a tackle.
That paragraph alone shows why it’s hard to photograph this sport.
DenverDollParticipantIt is a soft zone with the CB giving a 10yrd cushion…THe CB is ready to backpeddle…..I agree it is a play action pass.
ExpresbroParticipantNo.3 for me too Graham…although I reckon he was actually legging it to the pub…he took one look at the offense for DCU and thought..”bugger this…it’s not worth getting killed for…”…hehehe!!

Wha???
RobMemberI know nothing at all about American football, other than it’s a game
where the foot rarely comes into connection with the ball, and that they
have this massive tournament every year called the World Series, which
involves precisely one country…Looks exciting enough, and muddy too. Not being a sports fan as such
I can’t really comment fairly on the whole ‘sports photography’ end of
things, though from a purely photographic point of view I do like the
second one here…Rob.
