You’ll spot nfl-fan in this image and lousyphoto can also be seen lower along the river bank. This one was pretty much from the camera apart from a sharpen and compression.

If it was mine, I’d remove the 2 distractions (aka nfl and lousy!), print it, frame it, hang it and boast about it!

This is very nice Alan. Nice simple shot and works very well. Nice colour to it also. Some clouds would be nice in the sky to give it some more mood but still a good one without them

Now if they were fishing they’d fit right in but being photographers – well it’s just not the same is it?

    Alan –
Another lovely shot from what was clearly a productive morning =)

I would suggest cropping the frame at the bottom slightly – perhaps from just a little bit below where the shore meets the left side of the frame. I think it would focus the composition more.

I’d leave the photographers in there, personally – unless you want to sell it as a pure landscape, that is. Makes a nice reminder of a good morning for you all.

    This is super, Alan
Composition, light and colour are all spot on.
Only minor criticism would be there’s a bit too much sharpening, you can see the effects of this in the outlines of the trees on the left.
That’s really minor though, and easily fixed.

    If you’re using photoshop try:
    Sharpen > fade: sharpen 50%
Sharpen again > fade: sharpen 30% ‘darken’ or ‘overlay’

If you want to boost contrast and sharpen at the same time do this first:
    Unsharp Mask > 25% / radius 250 pixels / threshold 2 pixies > fade: Unsharp Mask 60%

Before you do any sharpening duplicate the image layer and work on this one.
The reason for that is if there are places where the sharpening is too obvious and OTT you can use a big fat soft eraser brush, set to 30%, to gently brush the OTT aspect of the sharpening away.

    Cheers folks.

Mick – the sharpening is fine in the larger version – I ran this through Irfanview and gave it a second bang of sharpening so that would explain the razor edge on the left tree. I’ll have a look at your method though to see what results are possible. Thanks.

Lovely view Alan. My only criticism would’ve been the oversharpening, but you’ve got that covered!

Well Alan… are we (lousy and myself) to be cloned out or do we stay?

I’m in work-work (i.e. Dublin) at the moment and whilst I can access PI the websense is blocking the image from Flickr so apologies for no C&C here.

But… I will say this… Emotionally I’d be very hurt if you cloned me out

Beautiful image Alan, marred only by the two stooges cluttering
up the riverbank. The colours and reflections are wonderful. Another
one for the printers I’d say…
    Nice work.

At this stage I’m an emotional wreck…

In this frame of mind I should be well set to publish some truly emotional C&C when I get home tonight…

Watch out Rob… What goes around, comes around

BTW: We all know that typically stooges come in three’s… Alan… don’t get me wrong… but I think Rob could be having a go at you too.

Humm ‘Three Stooges’… now that I think of it weren’t there Three other Stooges recently on PI posting photos of themselves
