More yellow…

I don’t comment much on the flower stuff cos it’s not something I know much about. But with this one … great exposure. I’m not so sure about the soft focus on the right flower nor the empty space on the left.
RobMemberThanks for your comments Aidan.
I think I just kind of liked the curved diagonal of those outer
petals. Maybe a little too shallow with the dof, but what the
hell, I still like it myself…Rob.
jb7ParticipantIts a beauty Rob,
maybe could do with a little off the left,
but the shallow DOF suits the subject-
makes it a little less common,
if you know what I mean-Nice lens too-
I wonder is there a little too much green in the yellow,
or am I just exposing my monitor to attack again?j
RobMemberThanks Joseph.
The more I look at this, the more I agree about the
space on the left; it really is surplus to requirements
so I’ll probably crop before, or if, I decide to print. No attacks on your monitor though. The green is there,
as it was in real life – a very bright time of day with a
lot of green reflected on the yellow, so I left it as it was,
no colour adjustments whatsoever. My lens thanks you for the compliment… :)
Rob.
Alan RossiterParticipantHi Rob,
I know nothing about macro photography or plants but I love this shot. There’s no distractions in the background which is difficult, I imagine. What I would suggest from a composition would be to fill the frame. There is an area to the top left in no mans land and the petal of the right daffodil reaches the top of the frame. What if these lower left and upper right petals were in the extreme corners?
The Dof is something I love in a photograph because it focuses (no pun intended) the eyes on the feature. In this case I’m drawn to the green stalk of the left daffodil probably too much. Maybe a softening up of this would bring the emphasis on the yellow heads?
Still like this photo though.
PeteTheBlokeMemberIt’s marvellous Rob. Everything else is nit-picking.
When I opened it up I thought, “Ooh, that’s nice”. Then I wondered who had taken it and was quite surprised to see that your wide-ranging skills have brought you, with such aplomb, into the macro section.
As a Welshman, I like daffs anyway. Well done indeed.
