    Seen this before somewhere!!

Still love the shot, the simplicity, the sharpness and the warm tones.
Have tried a few still lifes and haven’t quite got the hang of it.

A cracker (in my humble opinion).

    I like too the tones.
I would move the mortar right up. It would have two gains: larger shadow and cover the small spot on the table.

I like it too… great tones and positioning… the only thing thats distracting is that small knot in the timber to the right of the mortar and pestle… nothing that photoshop couldnt sort in a second…!

I never spotted that knot in the wood. Now I see it everytime I look at it. Thanks!!!!

There is no sophisticated equipment used to set up this shot.
I used my dining room table, a desk lamp on the right hand side and a white board and a small gold reflector on the left.
The reflector is a piece of card from a pack of smoked salmon!

Look like you need to invest in a new dining room table then  Overall, a beautifully lit shot, almost like an indoor sunset. Really like that letterbox format too, suits the picture perfectly. 8)

Good thinking, my girlfriend’s always buying salmon! She *will* be pleased that I’ll be keeping those old bits of cardboard… hahaha :-)
