Mossy stream

I shot this in Glencree beside the German War Cemetery. I converted using the LAB method and boosted the contrast and added a slight blue tone.

Unfortunately the main point of focus in your photo has blown. Can it be rescued? I normally don’t have too much of a problem with blown highlights but it does spoil what is a well composed photo.

    Andy is right.
The composition and conversion to b&w is very good but the center of the photo is too contrasty.

I have gone back to the RAW file and tried to extract a little more detail in the highlights. I am posting the colour version and one where I converted using the channel mixer with the settings 25,39,36.

Joolsveer, I will be honest…I cannot believe that this photo and the Kingsbridge Columns photo have come from the same photographer!!

This stream shot for me has no point of interest, looks cluttered, shutter speed was too fast and the colours are dull. Little streams and the like have so much potential, just look harder next time!

BTW, anyone who has not seen Joolsveer’s stunning new photo in the architecture section should look right now:
