I like this image – good composition and some impact. Might have preferred stronger colours, but I suppose the muted tones suit the misty atmosphere?

Yeah it works in a way for me, it’s an arty landscape and its attractive, i like the muted colours and i guess that’s what it’s about, personally i would have been trying to take a super sharp detailed image, must try this technique some time, i’m guessing its not as easy as it looks and that there’s a fair amount of post processing to be done. Thumbs up! :)

Lacks the interest of the shot with the bogwood. I think I’d have preferred a more downwards view of the grass because it feels as if it’s blocking the view a bit. The muted tones are an effective way of bringing the mountain air into a picture – I like ’em.

The muted tones are fabulous, though I do agree with Pete to an extent that it feels as though the grass is blocking the view somewhat. I’d be most interested in hearing some tech details on this image. What settings, filters, postprocessing, etc. was involved. Terrific composition overall

Took a downwards shot but there was some shake.
By taking the photo at this angle i was trying to give the viewer a feeling of being in the photo walking through the grass.

here is a mix up of the two photos.

Excellent! Cheers for the info. One of the most wonderful things about this site is the willingness of photographers to share tips and knowledge so freely. Without so much help, how would beginners ever come to grips with even the basics of photography. Thanks again Ciaran. You’re a gentleman.

I prefer the first one for some reason. I think it’s because it reminds me of my childhood, running through the fields. Your idea of giving the feeling of being in the field really works for me. In fact everything about it works for me. Even though we know the colours and processing are not “real”, the work you have done makes it appear more “real” emotionally than, I think, a true reproduction of the scene would have done. If that makes sense! :?

That makes perfect sence to me because thats exactly what the photo is about. I spent alot of time running through fields as a kid. lots of happy memories. This is kind of representing that. I gave it a dreamy effect to show that its more of a memory image than a reality image.
