a nice pleasing image, if it was my image i would crop off some of the sky
aoluainParticipantMarkKeymasterSeaviewParticipantI would second the old western movie comment, very nice shot and also well done on the PP.
Dave.
AlfamaleParticipantVery nice, great use of black and white I think. The perspective is amazing too – the scale looks huge and very imposing.
DenverDollParticipantYes~~
have to agree..you really mastered the scale on this one! Lovely work Mark!
MarkKeymasterCheers folks!. I’m glad to hear you feel a sense of scale from it.
thanks again
cathaldParticipantLooks good buddy.Film or digital?
You waited until the rush of mourne shots was over before you posted yours……crafty………Cathal
MarkKeymasterThanks Cathal!. Digital.
Haven’t developed my film yet, so hopefully will have something to play with there. And em, yep, thought I’d wait until the rush was over :) . Actually PC was out of action for around 2 weeks too
which didn’t help with the processing….MadeleineCalaidoWeberParticipantfirst impression is excellent, second look shows some hickups:
1) what happened to the line of the middle mountain…it looks too soft, did you photoshop there with a too soft brush?
2) i think you have some trouble with the greynuances in the sky because of the B&W conversion…blues break out and usually you get this pixel cementry ( ;The details of snow and mountains are wonderful.
MarkKeymasterThanks Madeleine,
Straight b+w conversion, minor dodging on sky and an overall levels adjustment.
Nothing else really. I think that its just that the mountains are quite far off and are somewhat clouded or misty…I need to double check the sky… hopefully its just compression of the image for the web. Fingers crossed :)
Alan RossiterParticipantNice image Mark. My initial thoughts were – why is the snow “snow-white” but the clouds are gray? Might I suggest a little dodging across the clouds or was this intentional to emphasize the snow capped mountains?
