MP3 Player – Your Recommendations
-
markst33Participant
Hi there,
I am thinking of buying myself an MP3 player but as there is so much choice out there I am looking for suggestions, recommendations and warnings. I was going to stay away from iPods as I feel I can get the same quality sound and storage for cheaper (unless someone tells me different)
My criteria are
1. Sound Quality (I like all types of music but Rock/Metal would be my favourite)
2. Minimum 4gigs unless it has expandable memory like SD cards.
3. Must be chargeable from power sockets as well as USB
4. About €100-120.Thanks in advance,
Mark.
miki gParticipantHi Mark.
I’d reccommend iRiver. I got a 20Gig multi-jukebox one 3 years ago & the quality is excellent in both the build & sound quality (also available in 40 Gigs). You can also watch video (ideal for long journeys on a bus etc  ) & you can store / display jpeg photos. I’ve never had a bit of trouble from it & they have lots of newer models available. Also a battery life of 16 hours with my model, which is quiet good for most journeys. Also has FM radio.Noely FParticipantThe best sound quality I’ve ever heard is from the Sony walkman mp3 player. I’ve listened to Ipods, Archos media players etc. and the sound quality of the Sony is by far the best, plus the headphones that were free with it ( not sure if they are the same now ) were worth 30 euro on their
own. My second choice would be Creative Xfi, a built in Xfi processor to enhance and clean the sound coupled with a decent set of headphones
Sennheisser or Sony..or Bose if you can afford them.PaddysnapperParticipantmartinkingphotosParticipantYes, Creative works for me too. And the issue of charging from mains as well as USB can be solved by
one of these adapters which are readily available.

markst33ParticipantThanks for all your input folks. I eventually went with the Sandisk Sansa clip 8gig which can be charged from mains and USB and has an FM radio and expandable memory up to 32gigs with top quality sound according to all the reviews http://anythingbutipod.com/2009/08/sandisk-sansa-clip-plus-review/” onclick=”window.open(this.href);return false; and I got it for €53 delivered from Pixmania. It was sold out in PC world which was a good sign too. Waiting on it to arrive now.
Mark.
