    Posting – Best Practice

Note: Do not use the Attachment function to post up photographs on the site.

    1) Should I embed an image or just link to it?
Embedding your image into the post is the preferred method on Photography Ireland.
We’ve found that the majority of members won’t select on a link to another web site to see the photograph.
Essentially its too much hassle when they should be able to see it from within the post itself.
Embedding will generally increase the exposure your photograph gets and from that more replies to your request for critique.

    2) How many images should I embed ?
3 images per post is the recommended number. If you have more than 3 then its best to have a second/third post.
This number of images makes it easier for those who don’t have broadband to see the content of the post.
Also it ensures that you will get critique per image posted. If many images are posted for critique
at once, people tend to ignore most of them and only comment against a couple.

    3) Are there size restrictions ?
No as PI will resize your photos on the screen or you to a max width of 800px. It doesn’t physically change your photo it just
appears to be 800px. When someone clicks on your photo, it’ll expand out to the original size for the viewer.

    4) Anything else I should know about ?
Yes. Its important that you own the rights to the photograph before you post it.
Also make sure you’ve read the forum rules regarding content.
