flynnyParticipant
Had a go at this last night,
I’d like to here from anyone who does this kind of thing,
canon 70-200 2.8 500 sec
Went from ISO 400-1000 .
kenhParticipantPaul, I’m not a sports tog, but I think these are top-notch – the second is particularly good!
flynnyParticipantThanks Ken,
I hadn’t tried this type of thing before(under lights).
Reasonably pleased with the results,
Even at 500sec there still seems to be a little motion blur in the odd shot(not so much in the ones above)
just wondering is there a magic formula which can be applied(camera settings).
If I learned one thing last night ,it was that you really need to anticipate whats going to happen next.
At this level, these guys are moving really really fast.paulParticipantThere’s no magic. Just a cause of getting the camera set right. Bumping up the ISO tends to work best. Tonight, I started at ISO 800 and ended at ISO 1600. I’ll post a few from tonight’s game later. 1/500 should be enough to freeze the action though.
You’ve a very nice selection of images there.
It just takes practice.
flynnyParticipantThanks Paul,
Yeah thats more or less what I was doing,
Just set the shutter to 1/500 sec, and kept adjusting the iso to suit the exposure.
Thought I’d get huge amounts of noise ,but was fairly happy with the results.paulParticipantTonight my shutter speed went between 1/400 to 1/1000, as light changed. It’s just a matter of judging what you can get from the available light.
lahinch_lassParticipantVery very nice shots there flynny.
My favourite is the first, but they’re all good pictures. You’ve certainly made the most of the settings used to get good crisp images.
EeyoreParticipantflynnyParticipantThanks folks,
I have a new found admiration for the lads and lasses who do this full time,
It’s not nearly as easy as those people make it look.JMac-2006ParticipantGreat set of shots Paul
The first though really is special with the lighting and the sunset backdrop – you should do more of this
