LeoParticipant
I’ve been trying a bit of all sorts of photography lately, trying to find what I like. two weeks ago, I decided to try motorsports, for convenience really…. there’s a MX track about a mile or so from my home and I’d never been to any of the events up there. There was a training day on, so I went up and took loads of pics. Loved the noise, the people, the excitement of the track, the smell of the fumes……I was hooked. :D
Then I went home and looked at my pics, and my mind went back to old school reports: “Has potential, must try harder….” I wasn’t going to be beat, I loved being up there so much, so I went back this weekend,…. and up’ed my game. These a few of the results. I’m fairly happy with them, definately better than my first attempt. However, I’d love some feedback from you guys, maybe I’m deluding myself…
C&C very welcome…. I want to be good at this!…..

BallymanParticipantHi
Nice sharp shots with good background blur but
#1 & #4 You could crop a little tighter to emphasise the competitor.
#2 & #3 you have half the person missing.
LeoParticipantThanks for the comments Ballyman, much appreciated.
So something more along these lines then:

bingbongbiddleyParticipantGreat action shots here.
First off, well done on improving your shots second time around. Learning from your mistakes is a valuable skill.
The very first shot I don’t like. It look like a double exposure (I know it’s not) with the two helmets overlapping each other.
I also find the circular watermark really distracting. It detracts from the picture, but if you feel it’s necessary it’s up to you I guess.
Stand outs for me are number four and number seven (crop is a wee bit tight on the in focus riders helmet in number seven though).
The shots definitely look far better without cutting out parts of the bikes or competitors.
LeoParticipantThanks for the replies, it’s great to have someone else “proof read” my pics. Often they’ll see things that are staring me in the face, that I just don’t see….
…..and yeah, the watermark is a bit of a disaster…..Thanks again,
Leo.
