Well done Andy, I am sure that is a weight off your mind! You must be pleased with the
results, the pick for me is the Bridesmaids up the steps and the your man leaping in the air….thats
a cracker! Made me smile and thats what weddings should be about, a bit of craic and a lot of laughs,
recording the memories of the day.

SOme lovely shots there, but some have the faces dark, and IMO need some fill in flash or at least some dodge/burn to lift them. #2 is probably the greatest example of this. I think you need to be more careful with light – there are a number of high contrast shots where the backgroundfs are considerably more dominant that the subjects – or the sunlight is causing squinting. There are also a number of shots with shadows falling inappropriately.

I hope that this comes over as constructive criticism!

They seem happy with you, nice and relaxed. You have many shots with people looking into a bright sun, screwy faces. When you have their backs to the sun, you haven’t lit their faces. I urge you to look into using flash and understand light for finding natural light locations (anywhere where the toplight is reduced or killed).
Keep at it, looks like it was fun.

The first thing I noticed is the life you managed to catch and I do love it in your pictures. Too many wedding photos are posed and you can tell people are not at ease. You either have an eye or way with people or both but it works.

Now let’s write about the downsides. Most of the picture lack of light (in the car) or have been taken with people facing the sun and sometimes having a chinese mask face. A flash would be of assistance in this matter and you could make the most of the shade provided by the trees and the building.
I also think your pictures will be stronger with less DOF. It will centre the attention onto the people. But I am partial there because I am found of soft background in portraits.
The last but not the least is the wedding dress. I noticed some lovely patterns that are, on my opinion, not enough highlighted.

My advice would be to work on the technic with some friends. Then you will have not only good pictures but outstanding photographs.

Keep on the good job and post more.

Well done on getting through what must have been a very worrying time for you. You got lovely weather, although it looks like it was fairly breezy. Sunshine is great to most of us, but as mentioned by the lads, it can also cause problems for photographers with harsh lighting, shadows, squinting etc. Over all, I think you did quiet well. everyone seemed to be relaxed & having a good time & that is one of the hardest things to capture during a wedding. Keep up the good work.

in the years ahead. I wish you and them all the best…..John!
