tried a few smoke shots for the 1st time last night and to be honest my patience faded quickly….i dont know if it was because the room was drafty but i couldnt get nice patterns going ,so i opted for the minimalist approach instead. all c+c positively encouraged !!

If the smoke was not playing ball it was probably because there was NO draught!
which is ideal as you can manipulate the smoke how you want, ie with a spoon
held in the smoke for a few seconds will give you the soft curls. Good luck :D

i actually like both of these picture Dallan, might not be what u had in mind but i like them all the same. they have a very elegant feel to them. Specially the 2nd one. or maybe i’m just being patriotic as the 2nd carries the colours of the italian flag ;)

Nice 1st try. I like them both. I’ve found the weather outside can have a big influence on how the smoke behaves, even if there are no noticable draughts in the room. Windy days can cause more curls in the smoke, but will also move the smoke around quiet a bit & sometimes causing it to be out of focus.
