This is an experiment to embed a photo to my thread from flikr, anyway it was taken in 1996 with my old Nikon F50 and an even older 105mm f2.8 manual focus Nikkor lens, it was taken on Fuji slide and it has lost some of it’s warmth in the transition to digital, but, I still like it, I love the stare in her eyes.
Chris,
It’s a strong photo with obvious personal connections.
What strikes me is that there is too much red on her face and on her bib. This may be in the original if the original light was reddened by something or it may be in the scanning.
Depending on your software, it may be worth trying the reduce the red in the highlights.
This is completely untouched and natural, it was taken in a restaraunt which had an all wood interior which gave it it’s warmth and it was a good summer and the fact that I think she was teething all lead to her colour. My monitor must be set up differntly to yours because the colours on the horse seem okay, the saddle is actually more pink than red?? Is that what you meant??
Chris,
Ye, it may well be a monitor variation. My sense was that the main part of the bib should be whiter but, as you say, the atmosphere may have given it a slight hue.
These are all issues of taste more than technique anyway. Main thing, keep clicking!
