    Hi smbee,

Like 1 and 4. Good compositionally especially 1.

Im conscious of how you have mentioned the need for more arty assessment of photos,
as in the subject and context.

All good photos should have impact and this is true for me of 1. Its a very good close-up
of a swan at it’s most elegant (almost human pose – shy girl look).

It feels like photo 4 is close to a good photo but didn’t quite get there.
It looks like the two birds are squaring up. If it was taken from a 45 angle to the right
and the close in photo of the two birds where you could see the faces of the birds this
pic could have got there for me.

Pic 2 is technically good but the bird seems too docile so the photo has little impact.
Pic 3 is over exposed and just doesn’t do it for me.

But overall however this is a decent set.

Hope this was closer to the assessment you were looking for.

    Gerry.

good composition on #1, i like the contrast.
#3 needs few brush stokes and a bit of contrast, also i don’t mind if i see the mouth of the bull

    hey,

    Thanks for the replies.
It is always great to get opinions.

Just to add a bit context to my little set here.
The first pic is not a swan, I don’t know what it is, it has a shorter neck and a red bill. I like the idea that she might be acting coy. I few pictures of this ‘duck’. This was my favourite.
I also took about 50 shots of the next duck – what I liked about this shot was the why the his little eye is staring out. To me it can kind of looks like he is thinking ‘If you don’t eff off with that camera….’
The reason I took so many pics of these ducks is, it was my first time going on a day trip with my baby daughter, I was sitting on a bench beside the lake trying to get up the nerve to feed her (in public OMG).

Ok, Mr. Bison. I really like the texture of fur adn hair on this guy. I tried to photograph this but failed in my mission. This picture is missing the mouth and horns because of a fence. As I was focusing on the bison, it lead to two big out focus blurs going accross the shot. so I cropped them out. I’ll do better next time.

The last shot, here we have a male peacock shaking his stuff for the ladies. I would have loved to get this from many angles. I would love to have been able to capture the expression on the female’s face. Still, peacocks are so amazing, I love those blues and greens.

Love the second shot, a combination of shy and “get that camera away from me”

It is actually a Swan, it is called a Coscoroba Swan and is the smallest of the Swan
family. A lovely shot it is too. I quite like the duck shot focus is good and sharp and
the colours are great, especially the red eye.
