    Hey Guys,

I only own a camera a few days and just said i’d get stuck in and get out there and start shooting!

I didnt really PS the pics at all at all, just cropped slightly is all really…

I need advice on what im doing wrong and how to get the pic right, or if its a bad shot to start off with and bin it! :)

So be brutally honest!!!! And tell me how to correct it too!!

Hello Sully, welcome to the forum.

These all look promising. I’m not sure what camera you have because there doesn’t seem to
be any embedded metadata with the photos (EXIF data). It looks like you took the photos
in bright sunlight and they may have benefited from a softer, more coloured light. This tends to
give a richer atmosphere to the image and also allows your camera to get details from the shadows.
I like the idea in number 2 – I reckon it’s worth experimenting with similar shots in softer light.

    Good luck.

    Hi Pete,

    Thanks for the welcome!

Its a Fujifilm S5700, just something to get me going and see if i like it!

Ya it was quiet bright i must admit! Thanks for the advice about the softer light…

Will i’ll try it and see how it turns out!

    Thanks again! :D

Post plenty of pictures and listen to what people tell you and you’ll
improve by leaps and bounds. There are people on this site who know loads
more than I do and they are generous with their advice – just don’t ignore
    what they tell ye :)

I had a Fuji s5000 for four years. A brilliant camera. Unforunately I always only shot in auto with it and it does tend to overexpose on a bright day. But it can produce some wonderful shots. Try and use it in manual if you can. I’m sorry I didn’t. Here’s a few taken with it:

    Hey Freddie,

Ya so far so good im liking it!!

And i said when starting i’d not shoot auto mode… so far none of my pics were taken in auto… I just play around with settings and see what works best, i find that the easiest way to learn!!

    Some nice pics there!
