My first steps in food photography

Just trying something new for me – a food photography, my new challenge. I’ll be glad to know your opinion on this.
Do you find the background too plain? Does the picture overall look dull? Thank you :)LoGillParticipantNot an area i’ve ever tried so my oppinion plus a pich of salt is a good idea ;)
But it looks fresh and clean to me… Love the DoF in the shot .. Wouldn’t be out of place at all in the restaurant review section of the sunday mags :)

AliParticipantExcellet Tatiana :D. The background is perfect – i think if there was anything in the background it would take away from the simplicity of the subject straight away. DOF is perfect too… Clean and Pure, the way it should be portrayed. Is there anything you’re not good at :).
PeteTheBlokeMemberExcellent. They seem real enough to touch. Can I have a nice steak next time please?
They look similar to scallions, don’t they?
RobertoMemberMarkKeymasterTatiana,
Love the DOF, the plain backround is perfect. A successful shot in my books.

gerardkParticipantHmmm scallions – I love the lighting of this, the angle dof and arrangement is spot on. Also the green tinge at the top part of the image looks quite good. Criticism wise I think it could do with a little bit more green in it. Having said that its still a great food/product type picture.
ValentiaMemberYep. Excellent. Very minimalist and very marketable I’d imagine. Great work.
tatianaMemberThanks to all of you for appreciation. I’m glad it looks edible – this is what I’m aiming for. I’m starting with simple things like fruit/vegs, chocolate, cakes etc. When ready will move to more advanced like steaks (for Pete).
Well, oatmeal for breakfast today:
RobMemberExcellent images Tatiana. Really love the dof and the angled perspective, beautifully clean and simple. You must be proud of these.
positronMemberLove the first one! Not so keen on the second ? all that from a totally-non-technical point of view that is (I know little about good photography!)
LoGillParticipantI really like the angles you are choosing for these shots – the crisp white feel is also very clean in both and I like that too.
Second shot is great too, the arrangment of it is great and the DoF – there is just a tiny thing niggling at me – the spoon ! Maybe keeping more of the spoon in and dare i say it .. a really shiny one :)

AliParticipantExcellent Tatiana, technically spot on :) Love it. White balance, depth of field, composition, all down to a fine art.
Keep it up, these are Super.
