My first trailing lights image

I got my new Sigmn 18-50 f2.8 tonight and I just had to get it out for a test drive.
Shot these from atop a m/way bridge on the M2 heading into Belfast. No filters, no post-processing except cropping and little saturation. C&C please.

I think that the blurry clouds and the Moon are a bit of a distraction in the first one.

The second one is delightful. The two different lanes draw the eye to where they meet..and then beyond.

    Lovely.

    Dave.

I actually think different. I think the top photo has more room to breath…and the moon and stars give it a nice atmosphere to it…

It was a full moon and cloud was lowish and fast moving so I thought it would add some atmosphere.

I prefer the first one as it is more unusual for this sort of shot.

Looking at it again, the light streaks are certainly better in the second shot (if that’s the main subject matter)…but still just like the first one. Perhaps if the second shot wasn’t so tightly cropped at the top?

I like the sky in the first and the streaks in the second :)

Cool. That is something I always wanted to do.
(Getting the tripod out as I am typing…)
Brian, I take it you are happy with your new Sigma?
The photos look good so far.

I haven’t used it a whole lot yet except for that first night taking the light trails and snaps of my son yesterday visiting Santa. I got up on Sunday morn at 6:00 intending to head off for a landscape shoot but it was too stormy, but I’m happy with subjects it has shot so far. It’s solid and well built.

    Very nice Brian,

don’t know why there has to be a “Better” one

    Love both of ’em,

the first has that dream-like quality….the second is a cleaner, crisper version, and , as dublindave says, the lines are wonderful…
