    These are lovely~~

My favorite is the first one…a very precious moment captured so well!

The second is so full of beauty too…lots of things to love about it…the reflection..the splash…especially your little girl..she is so beautiful! Love it in b/w. Great choice there.

I am not as crazy about the third because now I have seen her adorable face and I’d prefer it weren’t hidden by the pacifier. However, that is just persona; preference, and there is certainly nothing wrong technically.

    Enjoyed these!

    Lovely set of shots,

I really like the first one, everthing works with it, great light on her face and nice capture.

The second one is also nice, but the background is bit bland., great reflection in the water and nice and sharp.

lovely work .. Its often difficult to be critical of people’s photographs of their own children .. but you’ve applied good skills to the taking of all of these.. so they area already ahead of the game ;)

I have some suggestions though ;)
#1 – crop into her forehead a little and you will remove the distracting pattern at the top of the image
#2 – a little adjustment in levels to add contrast and help bring your wee girl out from the background – and sharpen maybe
#3 – add a small black keyline – just to frame her and help keep the viewer in the image

Really lovely stuff :) well done

I like the second one. Although she is out of focus a bit.

She looks like a little magician, casting a spell on the water.

Really nice set of pictures. Well done. I think the focus in the second picture works. Was she intentionally put out of focus. Was it done in post processing?

Love the third of these. As Lorraine suggested, all that one
needs is a simple black keyline to frame it properly…

Sharon. Glad you like them. The first is my favourite too. These are the best of a lot shots from the last few weeks. I find its better to just shoot without asking her to pose for the camera. It never looks right.

PD_BARBS. The second one is the result of a bad shot and quite a bit of PP. I knew it was out of focus when I took it but I felt I caught the moment with the splash. So I cleaned up the rubbish and a lot of stones in the shallow puddle and because it is a bit soft, converted to BW.

LoGill. Thanks for the C&C. I tought about the pattern at the top. It was a bit bright in the original, so I darkened it slightly to make it less noticable. For image #2, point taken. Most of my images are quite contrasty, but in this image I couldn’t really get it to look well. #3 definitely needs a key line to frame it. Looks well on black.

Randomway. Out of focus it sure is. I asked her to trow the stone. I was focused on the water a few feet in front of her. She just dropped the stone beside her feet. Btw, the spell is on me…

bingbongbiddley. See above. Never work with Animals or Kids….. :o

kdolinny and Rob, thanks for the comments. Here’s the image on black.

You know you have a good set of shots when the people who reply have all picked a different as their favourite.

The black edge around the third shot on your link really makes a difference, as a matter of interest, how did you light this.

I was trying to do highkey with direct bright sun light from a window behind her. The window sill is just to her left with direct sunlight to her right. The first couple of shots I took didn’t really work out so I opened up the aperture a bit exposing way to the right of the histogram. I havn’t tried it again since.

I imported as is to Photoshop and ran Noiseware Pro on it. I Then increase the contrast using curves. Next I cloned out any remaining background. Finally I ran unsharp mask and exported to jpeg. Here’s the original. I was lucky in that it took about 2 minutes.

Excellent tip, I must try this myself, my first high key attempts with a white sheet were not great, but I had my flash all of five minutes, so must give it another go.

    Thanks for the info.

loved your images and your little girl is so adorable. Not a fan of the “dodies” in the mouth but its still a cute image. I love the first one, its so natural and beautiful.

I love photographing my little girl too – and she is a very difficult subject.
