inteParticipant
this is a photo I took of my mother, she’s reading a book. I like the cosy feel to the picture :)
tell me if this doesn’t fit on normal computer screens btw [the width] cause I’ve got a Mac, and adjusted it to that..
PeteTheBlokeMemberI like the pose a lot. I like the grainy finish too. I think there’s a bit much black on the left and I feel a bit intimidated from being so close to her. If you’re used to seeing your mum reading then this will be a shot to treasure in the future.
inteParticipantI actually added a block of black to the left, as I liked this composition better. I’ll see what I can change to the picture so that it’s maybe a bit more distant :) gonna eat lunch first ;)
LoGillParticipantI agree with Pos.
The grain and pose are lovely in the shot – but for me, the black behind her seems to be squashing her out of the frame .. my presonal preference would be for allowing her space in front.. but maybe you chose not to do that ?
Nice work ;)
L
inteParticipantI did allow her some space in front of her face when I took the picture, so I tried a different cut out here:
(I added a bit of the original photo to the one I posted above instead of doing the whole picture over, I’m sort of in a rush, I really do have to get started packing my bags, I’m leaving for Dublin tomorrow!)
nolongerParticipantI like the second one better by miles and miles. That extra bit of space on the left makes a HUGE difference, IMO.

thanks :)
but I’m not sure yet.. I liked the feeling that you were kinda ‘in her head’ in the first picture. at least that’s what it felt like to me.LoGillParticipantI prefer your second post – and one of the things I love about forums is that its a great way to look at your shots through new eyes and hear others perspectives on things like this – but ultimatley you should please yourself :)
Happy Packing ;)
L
inteParticipantyes I definitely like the comments that you get on this forum! I’ve been searching for things like this on deviantArt and Flickr, but they’re nowhere near this place :)
hmm packing isn’t going as happily as I wanted.. I have to somehow get rid of 4 kiloos.. I could of course throw my mini-but-not-tiny cd player out, but I could also go for the clothes..
RobMemberBeautiful shot Inte, particularly the second edit. Lovely intimate feel to the image.
