All critique welcome. taken on a panasonic superzoom thats useless in dull light so close up with flash was the order of the day. next time il try with the 400D at higher ISO

Not bad. I think the flash ruins the first and last of any mood that the lighting may have produced. Second one is interesting with hte blur in his hands and the look of concentration and that. Compositionally nice shots but like I said I think they would’ve been a lot better with the natural light and a fast lens.

i like no.2, not unlike my stuff when i began, the flash takes from these images alot, but given ya used a p&s i’mimpressed at the quality, better than some examples i’ve seen with dslrs, great work forwhat your working with, get using your slr and i’mno doubt these images with get blown out the water

Agree with the comments that the flash killed the mood. Other than that….

Dont knock the flash completely, it can look quite different when taken off the camera if you’ve a way to fire it remotely.

Agree with the flash comments. But I really like #2. The frets look like they’re on fire, almost, and you’ve caught a nice note-bend there!

Yeah I had the same situation the other day at a gig, the 400D was in repairs (got it back today :D )
Flash can ruin the mood, slow sync works fairly well all the same, number 2 is defo my fave, great energy to it.
