My new family
-
Alan RossiterParticipant
Well, birthdays do bring benefits. I’d like to introduce my new family:
The Zero Image Medium Format pinhole camera (I spotted this when the Large Format query by nfl was answered by a link to their site):
The Holga…you just got to have one in your arsenal:
I finally got my prize – the Panasonic Lumix LX3 – it’s silver but hey…it’s free:
And I got receipt of this piece of history about 1 week ago – the Argus C3 Matchmatic (The Brick):
Now all I need is the time! :-?
Alan
jb7ParticipantAlan RossiterParticipantDang…forgot film. :-(
A little supply initially of cheap rolls to experiment…none of your T-Max stuff yet and of course the means to develop and scan it.
RobMemberFabulous. Love the brick…
Must do up a list for my next birthday, and here’s hoping I’ll still
be around to celebrate it…Have fun with the new toys Alan…
MartinOCParticipantGood luck with your babies,
I want a Zero Image camera too, I’ve eyed them before, but it will have to wait.
I’ll be looking out for your results.Martin
nfl-fanParticipantStory Wonk?
Has the Zero Image camera arrived with you yet? Any pics taken?
Cheers

Alan RossiterParticipantI hope to get a hold of the Zero Image box this week. Hindsight and a little research would have told me to go for the deluxe model with the cable release shutter attachment and the spirit level attachment but they can be screwed on afterwards. You could probably make one of these just as handy but with a brass/timber finish you just can’t resist.
The brick…that’s just obscene and fiddly but it forces you to think about your exposure and what the hell you’re really doing…it has to as the dials and aperture settings are in code so there’s no shutter speed…just 4 to 8 which is matched off the light meter. It redefines confusion.
Hopefully I’ll get a roll or two through…then develop them correctly…then scan them correctly…then post them…feck this, where’s me digital!!
nfl-fanParticipantAye… I said to our Joseph I was thinking about going digital myself.
The Zero Image certainly looks very sexy… has me kinda wanting one… but that’s photography for ya.
Cheers Wonka

jb7ParticipantI’ve got a Roberts Radio quite like that top one-
could cause a bit of confusion…Now don’t let that Brick confuse you into thinking that film is not for you-
I think the Holga is the most fun out of all of these-
light, easy to use, decent size neg-Anyway, you’ll have a ball-

Hell, no. It’s quite fun just using it and then realise you look at the back when you’ve taken a shot and there’s no histogram. It was frustrating last weekend when I put a roll of film in. I went with the intentions of shooting up Wexford town as I’d only taken 9 shots at home with a film that came with my Kipper 2000. 3 shots in and the camera jammed. Then I realised the film that came with the toy camera had only 12 exposures. Wexford didn’t suffer any more shooting that day.
I’d liken using the brick to juggling with 5 balls…then having to go home and see did you drop any.
nfl-fanParticipantThe enjoyment really begins when you know you can go home that evening and start developing your own film. I never liked the idea of handing it over to someone else to be developed.
Ah… I remember my first roll… well developed, totally unexposed… sigh.
