Some images from today using a new MT-24EX Flash with Gary Fong Puffer diffusers and MP-E 65 lense. :)

I have to say, I can see the improvement in light quality over the MR-14EX.

    Thanks for looking.

I’ve searched high and low for an ID for this big Fly. :?: Almost 2cm long.

Small bee with yellow face – Male Hylaeus

These pictures are amazing. Your macro shots are very very good.

There are some good entomologists at http://www.wildaboutbritain.co.uk who may ID them for you.

    Thanks again for that Pete.
I found an ID for #1 and #2 in Wild about Britian forum. Seems it’s a Hoverfly – Volucella pellucens. Interesting species. You can read more on Wikipedia.

    Seems #5 and #6 is a Blowfly…..

A few weeks ago there was a photo there of a willow warbler or chiffchaff and the poster
asked which it was (they’re notoriously difficult to separate unless they sing for you).
One guy answered, “Dunno, but the fly in its beak is a Rhagio scolopaceus“.
