Hi there, i have just purchased a new D60 and cant seem to find out how to use the lcd screen to yake photos instead of looking through eye sight?? any one any ideas???
I think as far as I know the nikno D60 was renamed the Nikon D40. you can’t actually use the LCD screen to see what you are shooting as the camera is an SLR. This means the light travels down the lens, hits a mirror, bounces around some mirrors and lenses, gets flipped the right way up and you look at it with your eye. The sensor which captures the image is behind that mirror and a curtain too which only gets exposed to light (the image) when you fire the shutter. Once you get used to using the veiwfinder you’ll prefer it. you’ll be able to compose your shots alot better know exactly what your getting into the frame.
hope this diagram helps to explain.
I as the same with my D80 when I got it first. Kept thinking I was doing something wrong cos I couldn’t get the LCD to work…hehehe!!
I came from a Fuji S5600 which has an awful Electronic Viewfinder. The viewfinder in the D80 is far far superior and I wouldn’t want to use the LCD now even if i could for taking shots. As Pate said..You’ll soon get used to the viewfinder and never think about the LCD for anything other than picture reviewing.
