I’ve decided that it is time to upgrade my camera from a Canon 400D to something new. I’m still keeping the 400D and have picked up a second-hand housing for it for some underwater stuff.
However, I’d like someone a bit newer (and shiny) at this stage. I’m torn between the Canon 60D, 650D or the 700D. The 650D is the cheapest if I pick one up in the UK – none of the Irish stores seem to have any left – but I’m wondering if the slightly newer model is worth the extra money.
The 700D is… 650D with a 700D written on it :) So… no…
60D… well its is a grade “better” then 650D, I am not sure what money you are looking at for it, however. Before, the xyD series had proper weather sealed bodies, that kinda changed with 50D->60D.
Another way to go is 70D which is pushing the prices od the 7D down, and has the newest Canon AF system in it… so might be something to consider…
i had same debate myself a while back when moving up from 450d – though i was looking mainly at 60d or 7d – i ended up going with 60d and the camera is far superior to 450d. i reckon the 650d/700d would be good option too but 60d would be my choice if you can make the stretch r find a good deal. much better handholding size, the high ISO (even 3200 gives great images), remote flash triggering, speed of focus and the fact i’d lots of sd cards all helped make my decision.
Best of luck whatever you choose theyll be great as 400d is getting a bit old now.
