New Canon 580EX flash

I will be getting a Canon 580EX flash mid-March.
Has anyone got any tips or tricks for using this flash.
My current flash is the 420EX and I will be using this as a slave off the 580.
(This will be my el-cheapo studio lighting setup :oops: )
The 420 has just an on/off switch, high speed sync switch and a main/slave switch so the 580 is a big step up for me. :?
Any advice is much appreciated!

Carl.Buy a diffuser, you can actually get coloured ones as well.
If you are looking for a cheap and cheerful studio setup, they will
compliment it perfectly.
Of course you could always pick up some studio lights for about the same price as
the flash, I got some cheap ones recently and they are brilliant.There is a new 580 flash out later this year – announced same time as the 1dMIII. There could be some good deals on 2nd hand 580’s or old stock 580’s if you look around!

Already purchased the 580EX, will have it on St. Patricks day.
Got it for around ?300.thanks anyway.
