New Desktop PC
-
SeaviewParticipant
I’m looking at buying a new desktop PC, my old dell is getting very slow and I think it’s only a matter of time before it dies. I’m currently looking at the Dell Inspiron 580 as it seems to meet my needs. Just wondering is this good value or should I look elsewhere.
Thanks.
Dave.stewart kennyMemberid recommend , buying a barebones system and uping the ram and graphics card, will cost u less and triple your performance in the end, if your not into the whole tech thing id recommend buying something with a strong graphics card nvidia 9 upwards.
hope this helps

SeaviewParticipantPitmaticMembernot sure how much the graphics card really helps photoshop as its not a 3d graphics application but as much ram as you can get is good as large photoshp images can start to chugg badly if you dont hav a lot of ram.
climberhuntParticipant3D is not all that important, but it can help somewhat as Photoshop can use the OpenGL functionality for smoother zooming, etc.
As for a PC recommendation, I’d recommend holding on for the next PC deal with ALDI. They regularly have specials on desktop PC’s and they’re pretty damn good for the money. A couple of years ago I got a Quad Core with 4 Gigs of ram (and a decent 3D card) for €449.
Rgds,
Dave.SeaviewParticipantDave, I was going to get the Aldi one a few weeks back but there’s some bad reviews on the net. Maybe I should take a chance as it does come with a 3 year warranty.
Dave.
climberhuntParticipantDave,
If you have a problem with it, walk back into the shop, money back, no questions asked.
What was the spec, and are they still available?
Dave.SeaviewParticipantThis is the one Dave, I don’t know if they have any left. I might give them a ring.
