I went to buy a new flash today, was going to buy the nikon 600,but was told the sigma 500 was just as good and at half the price.
Well i ended up bying the sigma,
Has any one used the sigma,or has any comments on on the above flash,
thank’s,
sean.neilwhiteParticipantSean, It depends on whether you have bought the Sigma EF 500 DG ST or EF 500 DG ST Super as the Super has more manual controls similar to the Nikon SB600. Also the super can be used wirelessly.
I have the ST version and in hindsight should have gone for the Super but the ST fulfills my needs at the moment.
Only thing I don’t like about the Sigma is how loud it is when it adjusts between focal lengths in TTL mode.sean1098Memberneilwhite wrote:

thanks,
sean.digitalfotomanParticipantI have an SB600 which is fully compatible with my Nikon D70. I bought a D200 early this year and it is not fully compatible with the D200 so if you select the SB600 check it’s compatibility with your camera.
CianMcLiamParticipantYour SB600 is not fully compatible with your D200?? Mine works flawlessly! Better in fact since I can control more than one wireless flash at different power levels without having to physically go over to the flashes to adjust them. What features can you not use?
digitalfotomanParticipantTo be honest I haven’t used the SB600 on the D200 for a while but I’ll check it out. I’m out of the country at the moment only have my trusty D70 with me. I’ll let you know when I return to the emerald isle
