Hi folks, I joined as of today and hope to regularly contribute to this forum. I started shooting street photography with a 35mm rangefinder when I moved to Toronto almost two years ago. Here are a few recent shots from a series entitled The 501 West. I hope to continue shooting street when I return to Dublin in August. Please excuse the frames and different sizing. I’m new to bbcode and pulled them from numerous locations!
The 501 West
Queen West and Parkdale, located in Toronto’s west end, has become an attractive destination for big business and struggling artists alike. Its myriad galleries and cafes exemplify a laid back, bohemian cultural center envied by other cities. The continuous surge of gentrification being experienced by the area is changing not only the visual landscape of the urban environment, but also the demographics of its neighbourhoods. What was once a predominantly low-rise architectural landscape has now become an attractive zone for large scale condominium
development.By using the 501 streetcar line as my route, I navigated the many neighbourhoods that have come to
characterize West Queen West. Photographing its residents not only allowed me to engage with my subjects, but also with the issues concerning the changing nature of the place they call home.

Maybe a little too many in the one thread……..who knows…
I would suggest that if you post any more than 2 or 3 in one thread that you
number them to make it easier to comment on the individual images.I look forward to seeing more of your work
