majorkateParticipant
Hi all,
I’m new to this website and have recently started concentrating on photography. I was wondering if you could maybe look at some of my photos and if you could give me tips on how to improve, I’m self teaching everything at the moment, so take it easy :)

Thanks guys!!
majorkateParticipantShould I maybe select a few images and post them here? I was kinda hoping for ‘best’ for x reason and ‘worst’ for x reason.. Not sure how the board works guys just let me know how ye normally do it would really appreciate it :)
paulParticipantFor C&C you might be better off posting some sample picts to the “People” section.
BMParticipantFor C&C, your best posting on PI – many of us don’t click links to external sites, including (especially?) facebook.
Dermot1Participantas has been said post a few shots here, there’s guide on here somewhere telling you how, welcome to PI.
ossie13ParticipantHi and welcome to the site for C&C please post your images in an appropiate section of the Photo Critique forum, ie. Landscape,People,Wildlife etc…
See here regarding the posting of images:-

LovelifeParticipantHey Majorkate
I am newish to PI and not really sure what way it works, but i had a look at your photos i hope you dont mind :) And for someone who is teaching photography to herself you are doing well. I especially like the newborn photos and the baby wearing the princess items sitting in a box. The newborn photos in the cocoon are good.
I will say one thing though dont take it bad :) The photos of the two older girls wearing the same clothes are good, but watch in some of the images the sky is pure white and in others there is a blue with the clouds. I know not your fault as that is the way that the sky was on the day, but perhaps try not to show as much of the sky when it is just plain white as it gives a lot of blown highlights to the images and the photo itself is good. Also a bright plain white sky can be a bit distracting and you want the girls to be the main focus. You can always try to underexpose the image and then try brightening it a bit later, the underexposure might let you carpture clouds – if any and when you brighten it after you may be able to save lost detail in the sky by tweaking contrast – but not too much.
Photos are good though – keep up the good work :)
majorkateParticipantHey Lovelife,
Thanks for your input, I will keep an eye on the sky from now on! As I said I’m only starting out and need to be able to go somewhere to get peoples opinions. I look at some pictures and like them but not love them, it’s great to find a place where you can get that invaluable 2nd opinion.
Thanks again for your advice and I will try to improve with it :)
