j are you a LFer?
jb7ParticipantI am Fintan,
I made a resolution to shoot more-
even bought 300 bucks worth of film to get me up off my arse (velvia, though I’m more used to Provia, check out my avatar :D)
Also my first time to use Quickload,
I got fed up with dust in the end,
now any dust can be blamed on the scanner-Dave at Digitalbeginner kindly gave me an extended loan of a Umax scanner,
and I’ll be using it as soon as I pick up some new software-
for proofing at least-
Larger prints will still need some more resolution.I also picked up some Polaroid 55,
mostly for proofing,
though if I get something nice,
I’d like to print some-
maybe using the gallery of Photography darkroom-
They have 5×4 enlargers there-The majority of exposures will still be made on Digital,
I’m afraid there’s just no way around the economics of that,
but I’m going to try to push the big one more-j
FintanParticipantfair play j, thats a nice lot of film. have fun!
where did you get your quickload thingie, i’d like onethe gallery of photography is a superb place alright, i used it for a while before i built my own one. i loved that big old devere 504 so much i bought one on ebay from the uk, 65kg of magic
i’ll have another printing course on in the gop in november hopefully, will let you know
btw forget 55 for proofing, its gorgeous in its own right

I’m using it in a 545 back-
works just fine-
no need to copmplicate things-Its not all 5×4,
I split the order with 120, for 6×12 and 6×9.Yes the 55 is a very fine film,
just got to produce some pictures that do it justice-
not the easiest thing in the world-j
FintanParticipantcrikey i didnt know you can do quickloads in a 545, i’ve a 545 pro, would that work also?
jb7ParticipantFintanParticipantmmmh, thanks for that j, really appreciate it, and sorry carrie for going waaay off d’topic
carriedayParticipantdont you worry fintan! im confused as to what you’ve been talking about though??? what is it?
DenverDollParticipantHi carrie!
Welcome to PI.I learned to process film in high school, and with that there was an extreme sense of accomplishment, splashing around and seeing that image appear like magic was fascinating to me all those years ago. I certainly appreciate the work that goes into developing, and I still love those fragrances!
I am just learning digital and post editing, and for me now, is that same sense of, wow, I did it myself! I think most of the pleasure is gained in learning and improving.
Both forms are as challenging as your imagination will let them be!!!
Have fun here, looking so forward to seeing your work,
Sharon

Well I’ve a camera that looks like this
It uses sheets of film 4inches by 5inches
Theres an attachment that holds a type of polaroid film called Polaroid 55 which I use. I was thinking of buying a holder for using sheet film in special easy to use film packs called quickloads [fuji] and readyloads [kodak] but J tells me that these easy loading films will work in my polaroid holder [saving me about ?150] Happy days :D :D :D
carriedayParticipantaw, i understand now….. this site is good for learning….. hahaha…. nice camera by the way…. i want one!
