Hi there, Brian here from Sligo. Been a member on the site for a while but only saying allo now. Just upgraded to a DSLR at christmas (Nikon D3200) and doing a photography class for a few weeks. Love taking photos but coming to grips with a DSLR is a big jump from my Nikon S9100. Getting some great inspiration from the posts on here! :D
jodal1975ParticipantWelcome to site brian… Nice to see another Sligo man on board … There’s not enough of us ! Get what you can from the classes (which ones?) read, read, read and practice , practice practice !! Get posting on this site aswell . There are alot of people with good constructive things to say .
Dallan.MisterkiplingParticipantCheers Dallan, i’m doing an 8wk course out in the Benwisken centre. Its quite good but to be honest i’ve learned more from reading the post here and seeing peoples opinions and CC on pictures. There’s a blogger called val robus (magnum lady), she takes some amazing pics. It was she who posted about the class. Seeing her pics made me want to upgrade! Spoiled for choice in sligo, in terms of scenery to photograph :)
jodal1975Participantyour probably passing my house everyday depending on your route to the benwisken centre….i live in cliffoney ! yes i know the course your on about , peter wilcox is doing it isn’t he ? he takes alot of stuff for the champion i think . i also know val robus, we are “facebook friends” and contacts on flickr due to our mutual interest in photography. i would advise you to start posting on flickr aswell and build up contacts there . you dont have to talk to them if you dont want to but its a great way of seeing what other people are taking and getting ideas. which side of sligo are you ? because there is a VERY good photography club in boyle with a few sligo members ……it does the usual beginners , intermediate and advanced. doesn’t suit me unfortunately
