New to Forum, New to Ireland, Not so new to Photography…

Hi there,
I’m about to make the leap moving from the UK (Newcastle) to Dublin (Rathmines). Alongside moving countries, I’m also moving careers, from being a Project Engineer in the Defence industry, to a being Technical Recruitment Consultant. I figured that seeing as I was switching countries, i may as well go the whole hog and switch career paths too!!
I’m a really keen amateur photographer, and am really looking forward to the new challenges that a new country and culture brings with it.
Outside of work (and photography), I can normally be found power kiting, or in a bar hugging a vodka & tonic. Any sugestion on Irish photo locations, power kiting locations or decent bars much appreciated!!
For anyone that may be interested in seeing any of my pics, my website’s a work in progress so in the mean time, take a peek here

RobMemberWelcome to the site Tim, and welcome to Ireland also. Some great captures on your ephotozine page by the way, and looking forward to seeing some of your work posted here. Enjoy.
Rob.
AliParticipantHey Tim, very warm welcome to the site. Had a quick look at your work, excellent, particularly like “Home Sweet Home”. :)
Best of luck with the career change and happy posting.MarkKeymasterearthairfireParticipantRodcunhaParticipantWelcome to the Forums and to Ireland Tim, a quick look into your portfolio revealed some really nice talented captures!
Hope to see more of those over the next few days on the forum…
Once again welcome and best of luck with the move!

I’m an exported Welshman and I know many happy “blow-ins” in Ireland. I’m sure you’ll be very happy here.
Good luck.
stasberMemberHi Tim
Yes welcome to the Emerald Isle, I moved here myself 4 years ago from London and am enjoying it every bit. Never liked London at all & wouldn’t like to return, to be honest! Give me a shout if you’re down Cork way any time.

davenewtParticipantWould be amiss of me not to welcome one of my fellow countrymen to Ireland and/or this forum… so… welcome!
earthairfireParticipantImagineParticipantWelcome to Ireland, the site, etc. Love the pics on the website.
Power kiting, is that like Kite Surfing???? If so you’ll find people on Dollymount Strand and in Bettystown most weekends. The first is part of Dublin bay the second about 40 minutes from Dublin.
If this is what you are talking about let me know and I’ll ask a mate I have who is big into it to recommend times/locations.
D.
earthairfireParticipantImagine – thanks for the warm welcome!
Currently I’m just doing power kiting on land (looking to get a buggy shortly), and at a later date will be looking to get into kite surfing too. I can’t surf for toffee, so trying to do it with a kite will be interesting!!
All recommendations gladly received!
Tim
