Hi i have recently got interested in Photography seems to be a good past time / hobby
i got myself a Nikon D3100 camera. I generally like to use my Sigma 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 DC lens.
As i am just starting off i would like to get some tips advice on where in Dublin are good spots for nature. advice on light like what sort of light is good to shoot in for example is it good to shoot when the sun is behind me in front of me lower down ?? I found the dodder over near mill town looks like there can be quite a bit of nature around not sure on what is the best time of the year to go, any advice on this topic ?
i would also like if anyone could tell me if there is a way you would recommend tweaking camera for better performance or do i really need to ?
Hi, I’m sure there are plenty of peeps on here that will be able to give you plenty of advice, here’s my tuppence worth regarding birds, try. And keep the wind in your back or at 90°s as birds face into the wind (usually) in order to avoid ruffled feathers. This would leave you either face on or in profile position. Try to keep the sun directly behind to avoid problems with shadows spoiling details. If the bird is between you and the sun then you will probably end up with a silhouette and or lens flare. This is just a rough guide there are plenty of times this won’t be possible and good shots can still be had. And try get on a level with your intended target.
I know nothing about your camera so can’t help there.
