    Hello everyone.

    Was given advice… join a photography forum in order to improve your photography skills. so here I am. I look forward to uploading some of my photos, and hearing your critques, so I get to learn how to take better photos.

    I find that I am most interested in taking pictures of buildings and architecture. This is where my interest lies, as I tend to take better pictures using this as a theme. For some reason I’m not interested in taking pictures of people. Maybe it’s because I’m weak in this area?

    Oh yes, for those who want to know, I have the most basic of equipment. This is the exact model of camera I’m using in case it’s of relevance.

    http://www.canon.ie/For_Home/Product_Finder/Cameras/Digital_Camera/IXUS/Digital_IXUS_100_IS/” onclick=”window.open(this.href);return false;

    (By now you can see I’m an absolute beginner to the world of photography. No fancy cameras for me, as I cannot afford them, I got the camera I have as a present.)

    I love taking photographs.

    So… Where do I start? Show a few of my photographs for critiques and feedback, and read critiques of other pictures? I’m not in any way qualified to give critiques so I won’t. It just wouldn’t be fair.

    thanks for your time. :)

    Alvean,

    Welcome and jump right in. PI is an amazing community of great photographers, tutors and people.

    Like me, some of us have much better equipment than skills. But don’t let your equipment slow down your learning. Cameras don’t take photos, people do.

    As to critique? Your eye sees things in any photo you view. What you see and like or dislike is very valid to the most experienced. I’m just a beginner but I do comment on things that look overprocessed, to my eye, and how a photo made me feel or think. All valid from a non-expert. But I don’t open my uneducated yap on things technical.

    Enjoy,

    Thank you for the lovely and warm welcome.

    Yes, I see exactly what you mean, about the valid contributions us non-experts can make on this forum. :)

    Yes, I’ll also keep quiet when it comes to technical stuff.

    All the best.
