I shot this at South Ferry, Manhattan. I converted from a colour capture.

There is so much in this image, it lacks a central point of interest – I find my eye darting all over the place in it. Not bad as a documentary type image, but it lacks impact and a main center of interest.

I agree with Brandyman on this one. No specific point of interest, but lots going on in the picture.
The black & white conversion seems to have worked well as the tones are quite nice, but, overall a bit too too busy for my liking. I think that the three poles in the foreground are the main cause of the problem as they dominate the picture, but you have to work with whats there and this couldn’t have been avoided. If you try to imagine the shot without the poles, I think it would have worked very well.

It’s good as documentary photo as Brandy says.
I would adjust the contrast and crop the bottom. It will create nice triangle of the deck.

Good edit – I had found my eye drawn to the seagull in the foreground on the first edit (its just looked huge :? )… this is better – good suggestion roberto
