Newbie needs help with lens choice

Hi to all: I’ve recently got a nikon d40 and after getting a loan from a friend of a Sigma zoom lens (55 – 200) to take some shots of some of the local wildlife, I’ve decided to buy a new lens. Should I get the new 55-200 VR Nikon or 70-300 VR? Thanks in advance.

Well if ya have the money, you may as well go for the 70-300. Its nearly the same wide range as the other but you get that extra bit. Plus you have to 55 on the kit lens like.

70-300, you’ll need that extra reach for wildlife photography.

the 70-300 is a costly beast in O’leary’s i think its 699 more or less the same in all the shops in town . buy off of the net, u can get them for around 250-350 on ebay with a 51 euro shipping fee still well worth it
