CoveyParticipant
Should be grand to start off with. With a fixed focal lens you learn very fast to zoom using your feet.
It’s not the fastest or best lens on the market but that shouldn’t be your focus at this stage. Just learn to get comfortable with shooting and what suits you.
For that matter as someone else said why not just stick with the gear you have and eventaully you’ll test it’s limitations and be better prepared to move on then. Learn the trade first, better tools won’t help to do that.
PedroMemberHi again Covey! :D
See what is happening is I might be getting a full/partial refund on the 50mm 1.8 II I just bought (couple weeks old) and I could then pick up the second hand Canon 28mm f2.8
If its grand to start off with I’ll buy it. That’s all I want to do is get stuck in and comfortable with the camera itself and working with it.
If I stick to the gear I have its just is awkward walking around with a kit lens. The Tamron is even heavier/bulkier and im just paranoid of damaging either lenses :lol:Is it a good prime or would you recommend something else for a Canon 450d?
Cheers
PedroMemberWould anyone recommend a fast prime lense in particular to go for when starting off with the 450d instead of the 28mm f2.8 :?: :?:
Kind of confused right now as if I am doing the right thing.
Im reading Understanding Exposure by Bryan Peterson right now. Brilliant book!
CoveyParticipantI’d forget about your camera and gear at the moment to be honest. You’re starting off, so learn about photography and street photography and get plenty of practise. You’ll eventually know what gear suits you and what not and what might be better able to achieve what you’re looking for.
The 28mm offers a wider field of view than the 50mm. Thats all. You have this with your existing lenses though and the 50mm is a good portrait lens too.
Lets see some photos :D :) :D
PedroMemberYes boss. Will do
I’ll learn and practice like a madman and make you damn proud of my future pics :)
Thanks for the help once again Mr. Covey :!:
MarkKeymasterJust moved these to General Photography Q+A as it didn’t appear to be a photo critique post but more a discussion
on street photography. I’ll glad move it back if anyone thinks otherwise.Excellent and very useful post btw. Lots of great advice for anyone looking to do some street.
Welcome to the site Pedro :)
Cheers!
PedroMemberThanks Mark. Nah no worries I dont mind you moving it.
Just want to thank everyone for their help and advice
