I was playing around with my 70-300 VR lens and my D700. I am absolutely blown away by how little noise the D700 produces at high ISO values. I have been reading the web blurb about the D3 & D700 and how they produces very little noise at high ISO, but now I believe it. This was just a test shot I took of my wife today so I can’t wait to do some real portrait/wedding work with this combo.

    Details: D700, 70-300 4.5-5.6 lens. f/5, 1/125, ISO 4000

I’m not really posting this for C&C but comments are always welcome…

That is really surprisingly low noise for ISO 4000.
I recently took a photo at 3200 and it looked like a dogs dinner.

    Respect.

ISO4000!!! I find ISO1600 unusable on mine. Even ISO800 is not great – it’s the single biggest issue I have with my camera.
