Niesen today

The mountain to the right is the Niesen, in the Bernese Oberland. As the sun sets, you get a pinkish-red glow at the tips of the summits —
Heidi said that the ‘mountains were on fire’.
I can never seem to get the pink-red colouration right, the mountains are too blue, and fiddling with WB etc only makes things look worse. Today’s effortA little earlier, and rather to the left of the Niesen – and the same difficulties
jb7Participantfab spot-
Wicklow looks great this time of year-It does look like a white balance thing-
somewhere around 7500-10,000K might be a start off point-j

thanks jb7. Tried this one with WB set to 10000 – but this put other colours off a lot, so more fiddling.
Different, but still not quite what I have in my memory [and the uploaded jpg is more saturated than the working tiff]
And the screen is calibratedMallachtParticipantMadeleineCalaidoWeberParticipantsecond one is just great….. It is the matter of the white balance to filter out the blue. but i like the creation of your camera as well (;
rc53MemberThanks for the comments.

deeorganParticipantBMParticipantI like what Mick has done to teh 2nd. Not sure about the blue cast in teh first.
Bertie: What height is Neissen? I’m tempted to get the knees fixed and head over there!

The Niesen is 2362 metres — but there is a funicular railway to the top, where there is a restaurant, and
an hotel. The railway etc is open from about May to end October/November.http://www.niesen.ch/index.cfm?fuseaction=sprachewechseln&id_sprache=2&path=1-96-38

Lovely shots, Bertie.
Hope you don’t mind a quick colour edit…have a new Mac (rejoining the ranks) and upgraded from PS7 to CS2, so I’m using any excuse to play about. ;)Thanks, Mick. Play away with them — while I try to get something that resembles what I think I remember what I say,
others ideas are interesting. I like your second version — it’s closer to my memory than my effort.BMParticipantrc53 wrote:
