Night by old lamp

I like this sirvad, though it should be in the street section!
This has a very aged feel to it and the dark shadows really work IMO
PD_BARBSParticipantI like this, the grain really adds to it and nice contrast. I wouldn’t have popped the colours on the lamp though I would have left it all B&W.
Nice atmospheric shot.
thedarkroomParticipantWhy does the soundtrack to the Exorcist keep rattling through my head?
I like this shot. The composition is good, the grain adds to the atmosphere and the filled shadows adds to the erie feel to the scene.5faytheParticipantHi sirvad,
I like the idea and look of this image.
Have to agree with the others with regard to the colour.
IMO it would be better either one or the other. To me the figure seems to be leaning on the lampost (sound like
an old George Formby lyric) which gives me the impression that
it was staged.
I think it would be better if the figure was walking or hurrying along.I still think it is very good.
Cheers,
John.
guthrijParticipantI agree with some of the other comments – lose the colour. It is a great shot and a nice conversion.
Cheers, John
richy5497MemberI like it a lot, very atmospheric and i like the grainy effect too. Also many people say that “Partial Colour” has become the cliche of Digital photography, but i think this image does it subtly enough to get away with it :)
sirvadMemberThanks all for the feedback, will put it fully into black ansd white as advised. thanks again
rc53MemberWell, I like it with the partial colour
please let us see the ‘complete’ conversionsirvadMember
let me know if ye think this is any better. I myself kind of like the 1st one but sure let me know what you’s think. Thanks.sirvadMemberthedarkroomParticipantsirvad wrote:
anyone any advise on which of the 2 is the best?
Not so much ‘which is the best’ and more like ‘which do you prefer’
Personally, I prefer the first one with the spot colour on the lamp but really it is down to personal preference. I don’t think you could say that any one is better than the other in these circumstances.David
sirvadMemberthanx David. think your right and im with you on this as not too fond of the b and w version
