Night Shot

Went to photograph some star trails last night out near Bunratty. Clouds moved in quickly so decided to concentrate on clouds and car trails instead. Not sure about this at first I liked it but the more I look at it no. I suspect it won’t print well and that’s my new criteria these days as I have joined a camera club. C&C appreciated.
ossie13ParticipantLike this but the orange reflection in the BRHC is distracting………is it the moon and if so would have been better if had been included in the sky!!
Steve
figParticipantBRHC? Do you mean the orange buoy? Yes it is a bit distracting cause it was moving in the tide and blurred. There was a blue one also that I cloned out. I might remove this one too.
irishshaguaParticipantLove the effect in the sky. Almost reminiscent of the Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights) effect  . Couple this with the beautiful reflection in te water and this is a very pleasant imge to look at. Very relaxing.
The bright grass on the bottom right and the bright orange grass in the middle right of the picture are a little bit bright and could possibly be brought down a bit in post-processing because they distract a little from what I would say are the real strong poiints of the image.
Very nice though. Hopefully it will print well for you
BrianRobMemberI quite like this, and I don’t see why it shouldn’t make a reasonable print,
though of course it’s impossible to tell at this resolution. There’s lovely movement
in the clouds which really makes that sky stand out. Compositionally, I don’t
think the foreground is adding much here; the grass in that corner is almost
flourescent and looks flash lit. I feel a crop from the bottom to leave it 2 X 1
would improve this, but that’s just my opinion…Rob.
figParticipantThanks guys. I agree the grass is very distracting. I will try to clone it properly or tone it down in print version. I could edit this all day but I suppose I better do some work :-)
Grass Cloned:
Gone crazy!!
johnnycivic66ParticipantWhat were yer settings you were shooting at? Also, was it completely dark? Or some light left in the sky? Lovely photo…
figParticipantI shot this one at f11 for approx 7 mins. It was at 9:50 2 nights ago so should have been quite dark but there was actually a lot of light pollution from the right and a bright moon was lighting the clouds from the left. I also shot in RAW which allowed me to get the brighter version above.
