Av or P or M and aperture ring is about it, plus dial in a bit of -ve exposure compensation when stopped down (you’ll get used to how much is needed very quickly, and the histogram review can always tell you what your exposure’s doing). Nikkor lenses are great on Canon bodies, very sharp (I have a 105mm AF-D Micro-Nikkor that can easily outresolve the 30D sensor with a bit of care focussing manually).
I bought a cheapie no-brand Nikon F-EOS adaptor from one of the many Chinese vendors and it’s fine, works great with Nikkors, Tamrons via Nikon Adaptall mounts and a Vivitar Series 1 F-mount.
