Nikon 50mm 1.8G Special Edition lens, NEW w/WARRANTY

  • I have one brand new, unused, and under warranty Nikon 50mm AF-S 18.G lens, Special Edition.

I was ‘forced’ to purchase this fine lens (DXOmark of 31) with the Nikon DF just last month.

Looking to TRADE for a Nikon 50mm 1.4D lens (with aperture ring).

Please contact if interested or if you’ve any leads for same! Thank you!

Ken Rockwell says, “The 50mm f/1.8 G is one of Nikon’s best lenses at any price.” Here is a sample photo of it from his website.

Can I be so bold as to ask how are you finding the new Nikon DF ??
Have you being using the Standard heavy D-SLR just wondering how it feel to handle as I am thinking of buying the df sometime this year.
Sorry don’t need the lens but you will have no problem sifting that item.

    Thanks..

    Hi Joe,

Well, pretty much everything you have read about the DF online is true, so it’s a matter of personal preference. I love it and am very happy with it.

It is *not* the same build quality and ergonomics as something like the D4. But it is still very well made and beautiful to use. The amazing sensor image quality speaks for itself. It is ridiculously lightweight. I actually found it too light for my taste initially but much nicer balance with a quick-release plate on the bottom! Will be great for traveling, however, and I will be doing that in a couple of weeks.

The shutter is quiet and has a beautiful warm sound quality to it! Shutter speed is great, as much as I’m likely to ever need. *Love* that it has no video.

My only real complaint is I wish the autofocus was more robust. The D4 was so fast and bang-on, this is a bit slower slower and hunts a bit more (regardless of lens). I don’t mind the reduced AF points, but the AF speed leaves a bit to be desired. But once you get to know it (like any camera), then you know what you are dealing with and can plan/act accordingly like a good dance partner. :-)

Thank you so much for your detail explanation/knowledge of the df.

I am a little reluctant to go off & spend that money just in case I’d find it much different then the larger SLR’s especially when using as a professional you sorta wonder what your client may think when you produce this bit of gear.
The whole thing sounds good bar the af which is something we guys need in most circumstances..
I like the weight specially when carrying two cameras…none of us getting any younger..!!

Your a splendid chap and many thank for your detailed advice much appreciated.

    Thank you once again,
