Looking for advice regards a 300mm lens for this model. It doesn’t have an inbuilt motor so the lens needs to have manual and auto. I’ve been looking at this http://www.amazon.co.uk/Tamron-AF-70-300mm-F4-5-6-Macro/dp/B0012UUP02″ onclick=”window.open(this.href);return false; but a lot of the reviews have conflicting reports of whether this actually works with my camera or not…a lot of the comments relate to the D3100 which is roughly the same. Does anyone have any experience of dealing with these type of lenses? Its cheap and cheerful as i’m just looking for something as a beginner!

Have a look at the 70-300 Nikon VR, I think it is one of the few tele zooms that goes to 300 and is does not get significantly softer at 300mm. If looking at a zoom in this range, that would be the lens I would look at. There is also a 55-300 VR, but don’t know too much about it, but if like the 70-300 VR, may be worthy of consideration too. Both have inbuilt motors, so will focus on the 3200, and while maybe a little more expensive than cheaper zooms in this range, think they would be worth it, as you will be happy with them, and not end up buying twice. Hope this helps
