Howdie,
Here’s the D80 Shots ;
Here’s the D50 Shots (same lens, same day, same spot etc);
I prefer the D50 photos, maybe it’s the white balance or different metering (both were set to vivid +) but the D80 seems over contrastysaturated with deeper blacks and just not as… nice!
What ye reckon, set everything back to normal and try that or should I go messing with white balance(s) ?SodafarlMemberThanks Brendan had set my mind on the D80 (which I think are just better, could save a fortune on the D50 but can’t afford both why didn’t you really upset me and use the D70/70S. Seriously thought you haven’t helped me at all.
Great pictures up there with the biking shots I have seen on this and another forum I visit.
SodadmgParticipantHi Brendan,
Nice photos!
Initially on my D80 I set to Vivid too, but colours usually looked weird. Normal came out nicer. Now I shoot RAW and adjust whitebalance etc. afterwards. However I guess you are doing some serious fps shooting, so not the best option maybe!
brookiedParticipantHi
i prefer the D80 shots my self. i thought they looked richer!
where did these come from, i am looking to get to a bike race or rally in the near future if you fancy a shooting buddy?StrobeMemberrandomwayMemberSorry, but I can’t really see a huge difference. If the d80 is oversaturated for your taste, set it to normal. I agree on that the reds and that green on the third shot is a bit weird… These photos are all excellent, sharp and interesting, I wouldn’t be worried about the saturation too much.
I’m more than surprised with the performance of the d50, shows that there’s a good photographer at the back of the camera.
bingbongbiddleyParticipantDisregarding saturation and what not, composition wise I actually think the pictures you took with the D80 are better. I guess that’s nothing to do with the topic at hand though. All the pictures are good anyway, but the first four are great!
Having said all that, I reckon you should try resetting the D80 to normal and working from there, see how you like the saturation then. I see what randomway is saying about the third shot, but the photos still look good.
